SUMMARY:A Day on the Oleander Express
DESCRIPTION:The Ability Garden is inviting families and friends to the Arboretum for a fun-filled day of adventure with interactive and educational stops around the gardens! Children can get passports stamped as they ride on the Shriners train between stations with different activities. Last year’s event attracted more than 200 children and parents. This is a community-based event with participation from many volunteers and area non-profits.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 8th annual Crystal Coast Run/Walk for Autism on Saturday\, May 12\, along the Beaufort waterfront! \nAs many as 1 in 59 children may be diagnosed with autism in North Carolina. You can make a difference in the lives of children with autism and their families by registering for the Crystal Coast Run/Walk for Autism. Registration is $25 for the 5K or the walk\, but you can make an even bigger impact by recruiting family members\, friends\, and co-workers to form a team and raise donations — now is the time to start! \nProceeds from the Crystal Coast Run/Walk for Autism will fund local programs of the Autism Society of North Carolina\, the leading statewide resource organization serving the over 65\,000 people in NC across the spectrum throughout their lifespans. Participation in this event has helped ASNC to open a Social Recreation Center in Newport that offers summer day camps\, afterschool care\, and adult programs. \nEveryone knows someone affected by autism — maybe your brother\, cousin\, friend at school\, neighbor\, or co-worker.
